The lights flickered upon the grand ceiling Reflecting on its subjects down below. Indeed the masked ball was just beginning And no one suspected the looming woe. A veiled man with a twinkle quite fatal Smiled at a fine young dainty  lady Tipped his dark black hat as if celestial And asked a dance from this cutsie fairy. If she had known his true face before hand Would she have taken his embracing hand ? Would she have been with him as gleefully As would a bird in his own lofty tree ? I look around and all I see Decaying trees and fantasy Just glance ahead and you will find All the hopes that were left behind When I wake up I stand quite still Fear of another mundane drill What does it mean, what should I do Everything seems to go right through Those lifeless forms and inane tears Scream terror to my woeful ears Every year it’s the same old thing And I grow so tired from hoping I’ve become weary of routine; Prompt for the melancholic spleen
